Debra Rogers graduated with an Associates in Applied Science in Interpreting for the Deaf from T.C.C. NW, and a Bachelor of Arts with a Major in Psychology and a Minor in English/Linguistics, Magna Cum Laude, from U.N.T.  She proposed an honors undergraduate thesis on the use of anaphors in American Sign Language grammar with Rosalia Dutra and Dr. John (Haj) Ross of linguistics at U.N.T. 

 

She currently possesses a certificate as an Interpreter for the Deaf in the state of Texas and works for Hired Hands Interpreting agency in Fort Worth.  She has also completed and received a certificate in the Human Participants Protection Education for Research Teams from the National Institutes of Health.  This allows her to currently work on a research team analyzing Role Shift in American Sign Language grammar.  Her experience interpreting for the Deaf includes: educational, religious, theatrical, and medical interpreting.  Her future goals include a Masters Degree in Behavior and Counseling with a specialization in PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), and certification for TESOL (Teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages).  She is actively involved in the Deaf Community.  She teaches ASL III and IV in the fall and spring semester.

 

Awards include:  Psi Chi National Honor Society in Psychology, Golden Key International Honour Society, and Who's Who Among Students in American Universities & Colleges.
